of the most prestigious events in the nation....the Krispy Kreme Challenge!
When it comes to timing a difficult race, nothing can compare with the Krispy Kreme Challenge. Up to 6,000 athletes run about 2
miles to a Krispy Kreme donut shop and eat a dozen donuts! Then, they turn around and run back 2 miles...doing their best to keep
the donuts in their stomach! It's a lot of fun for the athletes, but it presents quite a timing challenge. Because of the short distance
of the event, the race required dual starting lines that are nearly 35 feet wide in total. In addition, a split time is needed at the donut
shop to confirm that race participants consumed their donuts. Due to the speed of the race, real-time data collected at the split point
needed to be transmitted to the finish line area so that race organizers could know at a moment's notice how many participants had
completed the event. In addition, real-time finish results were shown on a large plasma display as each athlete crossed the finish
line! The race density was considerable and at any one time, there were as many as 25 to 30 athletes crossing the finish line within
seconds. While all of these factors present a great challenge to a timing company, PrecisionRace delivered a great experience for
