30 August 2010, ST. LOUIS Missouri USA – Innovative Timing Systems (ITS), today announced their Jaguar Cubby(TM)
Race Timing System. This low-cost solution for timing athletic races sells for less than $6,000 and it provides
remarkable read rates in excess of 30 chips-per-second. The ability to time small to medium-sized races with a
portable system that can be carried in a laptop bag opens up enormous possibilities for race organizers who need a
simple but reliable system. ITS Jaguar Cubby(TM) meets this need by delivering a low-cost solution that can utilize a
disposable chip that is placed on any race bib. The development of the product presented an incredible challenge
for the engineering team at ITS. Creating a timing system that could deliver real-time results in a small portable
case was no easy feat. The ITS team spent over a year developing and perfecting the Jaguar Cubby system to
ensure that it would meet the high performance standards found in other ITS products. The system has already
been used successfully at numerous races and it is ideal for 5Ks, 10Ks, Mountain Bike events, very small triathlons,
fitness tests, stair climbs, etc.
Said Kurt Hansen, Innovative Timing Systems President, “It has always been our desire to build a world-class
portable timing system that uses a disposable chip on the bib for less than $6,000. The engineering challenges
make this quite difficult. We spent over a year developing and perfecting our technology and we were able to reduce
the size to approximately 10 x 13 x 3 inches. The product comes in a hardened plastic case and the antenna is built
in. Jaguar Cubby is the perfect solution because it was designed for extremely high read reliability without any
potential trip hazards – the case can be mounted overhead or to the side of the course, unlike older technologies that
rely on mats or antennas placed on the ground. Our inexpensive disposable G-Chip or B-Chip on the back of any
race bib performs wonderfully with the product. For less than $6,000 for the system, and for only 75 cents per
disposable chip, the customer now has a perfect solution that’s portable, easy to operate, lightweight, and provides
real-time results!”
